Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil are two of the initial candidates in the frame to replace Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolves.

The previous coach was sacked on Sunday following the team's 10-match winless start to the Premier League season.

And Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have historic associations to the club - are part of the names to be considered by the Wolves leadership.

Edwards is currently at another club, which would pose a possible obstacle to his appointment at Molineux.

However the former Luton head coach - who played over a century of appearances for the club during his time as a player - is considered a strong contender for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys backing from the club board as they start the process of hiring a new head coach.

Gary O'Neil is also emerging as a unexpected candidate, although he would be a surprising appointment considering he was sacked by the club in the previous winter.

The ex- West Ham United midfielder is currently unemployed meaning the club would not need to pay any compensation.
